The Director of Robocop is a member of the Jesus Seminar

Here's his book on the historical Jesus:

Apparently he's also going to make a movie about Jesus.

Hopefully he will bring all the gravitas that he brought to Basic Instinct, Showgirls and Starship Troops to his treatment of the life of the central figure of human history.

  1. He's been talking about this project for a long time. I saw him speak in the fall of 1986 at the University of Oshkosh. He was hoping to make it after he completed Starship Troopers. He described himself as "a fan" of Jesus. When asked how he would explain the accounts of Jesus' miracles, he said something to the effect of "I can't explain what Beethoven did, either."

Starship Troopers, by the way, is probably the most underrated movie of the 1990's.

  2. Joel- I agree with you about "Starship Troopers." One of the most amusing films about Fascism ever made.
